more on the holiday

well, i was right. mom did beat me to the pictures. it probably helps that they were on her camera, as i left ours at home. you can head over to her blog (notesfromnanashouse.blogspot.com) or to the christmas blog page (christmasinkingsley2008.blogspot.com) to check some of them out. she's making them into scrapbook pages, so she'll continue to update the christmas page as she finishes the pics. they're pretty good, too, so i suggest you check them out.

the accident i mentioned in my previous blog left no injuries to anyone but the poor car. the road was completely covered in snow, making it impossible to see the lines that divided the lanes. on top of that, everything around us was white and blended in together, and then there was the heavy snow falling that obstructed our view. so when the interstate split, we didn't know which lane we were in, therefore it was rather late when we realized we were in the wrong one. fai started to get over, but we didn't see the snow bank until we were a foot away which, of course, is much to late to veer when you're on a slick road surrounded by other cars. so we plowed into the snow that was about up to my window that sat in the middle of the dividing lanes and spun to a stop, stuck. snow had sprayed up onto the windshield, so we couldn't see if we were in the middle of a lane that would have cars in it (which was the most worrisome since we drive a white car and would likely blend into the rest of the scenery), nor did we know if we would be hit from behind, as there were cars spliting off that way, too. luckily, a trooper found us before too long and called for a tow truck to pull us out and back onto the road. overal, it probaly took us about an hour. we were a little shaken, but no lasting damage. the car, unfortunately, did not fare as well. we have duck tape holding the bumper in a few places and will need to be replaced. there goes the money we saved by driving instead of flying or taking the train. oh, well. at least we were all unharmed.

for those who know me well, you know what it was that i wanted for christmas and was convinced i wasn't getting. well, i got it! i am now the owner of a pair of brand new naughty monkey shoes! i'll be modeling them on sunday for those who care to see.

also, mali has really taken off with her walking. she's getting six steps or more in at a time, plus she's started doing it without me on the other side waiting for her. that paired with noe's new habit of coming out of her room and into mommy's very early in the morning (and, even more fun, sneaking out of the guest room where she takes her nap and into the girls' room where mali is napping to play and get her sister up) has mommy a bit tired and cranky the past couple days. don't get me wrong, i love that mali's walking and that she's so proud of the fact, but it's making it difficult for mommy to get any rest while i chase after her. or she'll hang onto my leg while she's trying to walk and i'm forced to go with her wherever she wants to go. little is getting done at the poons' at the moment.
