the big oh-one

happy birthday little bug! my love bug has turned one today. and what a year it's been! with her, the time has just flown by. with noe, that first year seemed to go really slow, but mali's has come and gone with a few blinks! in honor of her first year passing, here is a list of some of our favorite memories of her:

-pooping at daddy shortly after we brought her home. both of our girls have done that, so i guess we could call it a tradition!
-noe "holding" her little sister
-falling asleep in the swing at the playground (she just looked so sweet! i have a pic of it on one of the posts)
-meeting the dog...and loving the dog
-easy smiles. this one is so easy to get a smile out of, and we've enjoyed each one.
-her giggles
-her appetite! she loves to eat!
-her chunkiness! she was born small, but she filled out fast!
-becoming a daddy's girl. she just lights up when daddy comes home
-peekaboo
-patty-cake with noe...while she slept.
-learning to walk
-singing. she's started to sing when she hears a song.
-bed time. i love it when she snuggles and hugs me and her elephant before i lay her down.
-her belly. she loves to show her belly and it's really funny when she and noe do it together...mali's huge belly next to her sister's showing ribs!
-bath time. she loves to take a bath and now expects it to include bubbles, which she will demand if you don't break them out immediately.
-dancing. we dance around the house at least once a day for some exercise and fun and mali has really taken to it.

there's a lot more, but i'm sure you all have other things to do this week, so i'll not list them all. our plans for today had been quite grand. of course, things did not go as planned. mali was in the hospital, so i post-poned the party for a few weeks (i still haven't even given out the invitations). so we planned to just have something small today with her pressents. the weather this morning, however, has possibly ruined even that since i had planned to get her gifts while i was out today and the roads don't look nice enough to go out today. i don't even have a cup cake for her right now! hopefully the snow will let up and melt away enough for me to go out this afternoon. otherwise, the best she'll get today is hearing happy birthday in two languages and a home made card from her sister...who may decide she'd rather keep it.

mali doesn't seem to mind, though. if we could all take a page from the book of a mellow one year old, we'd probably be a lot happier and less stressed!

Wow! I can't believe she is 1. That did go by fast! Just think, you were already pregnant with Mali when Noe was 1! Time to get busy on #3!
