today's post is all about the bug. not that noe hasn't been doing some really cute things lately, but because mali has been taking up a lot more of my time!! lately, mali's "potty training" has been going really well. i say this with a somewhat reluctant smile because i don't really want to start her training when i know she's too young...or is she? this morning, she told me she needed to potty. so i took her and sat her down, preparing myself for a long ten minutes of books and toys and songs, etc. instead, she simply pooped on the potty and said she was done! five minutes later, she asked to go again, this time to pee...and did just that. no coaxing, no games, no waiting period. just in and out. now, i don't mean to say that she's staying dry. i still change her diaper several times a day...but this is a really good start!
my baby has also started imaginary play early so that she can play with noe. she plays with the ponies or princesses as though she's in their make believe world. she brings me imaginary food to eat. she "swims" like a mermaid in the bath or on the living room floor. all kinds of things like that. it's really funny to see.
her communication has grown even more, which is impressive as it was pretty good before. unfortunately, this makes it impossible to pretend i don't know what she wants.
her temper is really growing, too.... she has really bad tantrums and a really short fuse. her first choice when things don't go her way is to hit. her second is to pull hair. and she does not respond to time out as well as her sister.
she slept in a toddler bed the other night and actually did very well. she stayed in bed, waking up once to stand up and cry because she wasn't sure where she was, but quickly went back to sleep. in the morning, she didn't wake her sister up, but just came out of the room on her own (letting noe sleep until almost 7:30), and was in a really good mood all morning. so now we're looking or a bed to give her. my baby is growing up!
