stones, stones, and santa's little helper

a lot has happened in the past week. some of it has been good, some of it...well, not so good. last weekend, i had a little visit from my newest foe...the kidney stone. at least, we think it's a kidney stone. since they didn't actually do any real tests while i was in the hospital in january with the same thing, we can't really be sure. but whatever it is, it hurts!! i'm not just being a baby or overly dramatic, either. it really hurts! in january, the first time i felt it, i thought i was having back labor. to be honest, i'd rather have labor than the stone. they both hurt, but the difference is that during labor, you get a little rest between contractions. the other is a constant pain that you can't do anything about. well, last weekend, it happened again, only this time i wasn't pregnant so there was no confusion and i didn't get a lovely little baby out of the deal. we called the nurse line who told us to call my gyno who told me to take some medication and go to the ER if it didn't ease in the next hour or so. so we found my pills they'd given me when i had mali (which, by the way, i never had to take...if that tells you how bad the pain was in comparison) and i past out for a couple of hours. the pain went away, but between you and me, i have to pee every ten minutes, so i'm pretty sure i'll be hearing from it again. it's enough to make me willing to drink a glass of water every day, and i hate water. here is the conundrum though. kidney stones only hurt when they are moving to the bladder (well, unless they are unusually large). if they aren't moving, they don't hurt. but if they aren't moving, i'll never get them out. so do i drink tons to try to get it out faster? or do i drink as little as possible hoping it won't ever move again? it's a tough choice.

we have some cute videos to share this week. not as many as i was hoping, but the girls don't like to cooperate for the camera. they will do all sorts of things i want to video, but then they stop as soon as the camera is on. *sigh* when they're older, they'll wonder why i didn't have more pics and vids of them as babies and cry to their therapists that i didn't love them enough. anyway, one is from when we tried to take noe out for a walk after fai got home. it was funny because she had been begging me to go back outside (we'd been out earlier but had to go in to feed mali). we finally go, and she decides she would rather just play in the yard we share with our neighbors and the puddle in their drive way. what does she want to do? she wants to pick up stones from their yard and put them in the puddle. then repeat the process. again. and again. and again. we couldn't get her to budge from that area, even for flowers and birds and squirrels (which are the reason she really loves walks). in the end (which i didn't catch on video because the battery died) she was coaxed away to visit the new puppy down the street...which she wanted to look at but refused to actually touch.

the other video is a proud parent moment that fai caught yesterday. please ignore the mess of a woman in the video with noe...she doesn't generally get a chance to make herself presentable until after noon and this was taken in the morning. anyway, noe is showing her wonderful helper skills. she loves to help me clean and "cook". here, you see her helping me with the laundry. this is documented to show her later that she used to clean without me having to nag her and threaten her. i'll show it to her future husband so that there's no excuse for her not cleaning and doing laundry in her own house one day...because she does know how! (sorry folks. i couldn't get this video to upload. you'll just have to take my word for it!)Daddy fixed it!

then, lastly, i've added one that daddy did while i was putting noe to bed. it's of he and mali spending some quality time together...sort of.
