adjusting

well, we finally moved! our official move date was the 15th and i'm so happy to be in our house! no, i don't have any pics of it to share yet. there are none online and my camera is broken...still. we may have to make that an early christmas gift..for fai. i still want shoes.

anyway, we all have a bit of adjusting to do now that we're in the house. the girls are sharing a room now. i expected noe to have a problem with that because she's been in her own room for two years. well, i was wrong. noe has been great. she loves having mali in there when she wakes up so that she can play with her. when i go in there in the morning it's to the sound of them laughing rather than crying because noe has climbed into the crib with mali and they're giving each other kisses or playing peek-a-boo. it's great. unfortunately, while noe has made an easy transition in that respect, mali has not. it hadn't occured to me that she may have a problem sharing since she's only had her own room for a few months. but mali does not like having her big sister in there when she's trying to go to sleep. even though noe doesn't generally make noise at bed time, mali won't stand her being in there. she just stands in her crib and screams! this went on for the first couple nights we had them together and it was driving me crazy. even after i would finally get her to sleep (after an hour, people!), she would wake up several times over night and start again! i thought it would bother noe to have the screaming, but she just slept right through it. luckily, i got some advice from a friend (thanks, kellie!) to try putting them to bed at different times. so i put mali down first and let noe stay up for a few minutes extra. then, after about five minutes, i put noe in bed. this worked wonders!

the next adjustment is the mess. we haven't gotten everything...not even close to everything...very far from everything...unpacked yet. so we have a state of chaos in the house. i can't get much done during the day right now because the girls want to "help". i had planned on putting them down in the play room in the basement while i got things done, but mali has started climbing up stairs and then falling down them (has fallen about four times, now) and i don't have a working baby gate (it got broken at the town house). so we've been using two pans, styrofoam bowls and plastic spoons for all our meals, one bottle for mali, one cup for noe, and a rice cooker.

noe, while she likes the new house, is not quite used to it yet. she plays in it all day, but around 5, she keeps telling me it's time to go "home". tell her that we are home, and she says "go home, mommy", as though she doesn't believe me. what else can i do? i had her name painted on her bedroom wall, but apparently it's not enough to convince her!

fai has a longer drive to work now, so he gets home later, which i think the girls are noticing. i've been letting them stay up a little longer each night to get to spend some more time with him, so hopefully that won't be a problem.

the dog probaly has the biggest adjustment of all. he is now an outside dog until we find him another home (yes, people, i'm still mad!). now, he used to want to go outside all the time and had a ball whenever i was able to take him out for more than just potty time. you would think he would then enjoy his nice new fenced in yard to the fullest. instead, however, he spends about 90% of his day sitting outside the door begging to come back in!

that's it for my side. however, i would also like to mention that a couple of friends of ours have made a big adjustment of their own. last night, i understand, yen and mike had twin girls!

Let me know if you need me to watch the girls while you unpack. And we have an extra baby gate if you want to borrow it. It's just a tension one, but should work just fine for the bottom of the stairs. Let me know...Oh, and we are so excited to have you guys as neighbors!
