hey...there are snow balls here....

for those who don't know, michigan is very cold. despite that, i have decided that kingsley, or rather the weather that goes with it in the winter, is as close as i've ever been to the devil's real estate. so when people say that you have a snow ball's chance, you should take that very seriously.

our holiday travels started out less than promising. the weather was really bad the closer we got to my mom's. what should have been a nine and a half hour drive turned into sixteen hours of slow going, treacherous driving through blizards, ice and snowbanks. we had one minor accident that was really scary around eleven o'clock. after that, we didn't break 35mph. the roads were completely covered in snow and ice, there was a lot of snow coming down, and there were very few other cars crazy enough to be out in it. by the time we got to my mom's, it was six o'clock and the girls were ready to get up. they did really well on the trip, though, i must say. the accident shook them for a few minutes, but we were able to calm them down and they went back to sleep soon after we got back on the road.

the days following were filled with more snow, so we didn't go outside. instead, we made gingerbread men/women, played with toys, watched tv, and let the girls get to know their nana better. the christmas tree was insane! there were too many pressents to fit underneath. we decorated stockings for santa to fill and tat was fun. we all got the things on our lists and, overall, i think it was one of the best christmases yet. it was nice to have my mom and kids play together. they don't get to see their nana very much. and noe really loves playing with her cousin. she continues to talk about him for a long time after he's gone each time she's seen him. this year, however, she has also started talking about his friends. i really have to check her love of boys soon or she'll become the most outrageous flirt!
