halloween was a success for the girls. noe really enjoyed getting to dress up again and, of course, both girls looked as adorable as they have the past several days in their costumes. and, despite our opinion about the neighborhood here at the mardi gras house (only for a few more weeks!), it was actually a really good place for them to trick or treat.
every time we knocked on a door, noe would try to go inside. i guess house hunting has really taken it's toll on her! i'll have to really break that habit soon. we would rehearse before each house so she would know what to say, she'd say it really well, and then clam up for the first few houses. after she saw how it worked, however, she said it with flair, even jumping up and down as she said it. or course, she had a real problem with letting the candy go into the bag...and leaving it there. especially if she happened to see a sucker in the mix. forget the rest of the houses, mom, i want that sucker! eventually, i did give in and let her have one, thinking it would last her the rest of the night while we treked our way up the street...but i was wrong. that girl really went through suckers . she figured out pretty fast that if you bite into it, there might be something fun inside.
we didn't stay out long, though. since we weren't even sure what time trick or treat started, we went ahead and had dinner at our regular time before getting the girls into their gear. then we really only went about half way up the street, and didn't even make all the houses on the way back (in fact, we skipped the two door right next to us). oh, well. they got plenty. noe actually said she was ready to go home, which means she must REALLY be tired, or she was ready to start sorting through the stash. mali had a little bag, too, which we had to empty into noe's bigger bag a couple times, because people kept giving them so much! one house would give them each two treat bags!
when we got back, we played with some spraklers that we had left over from july 4th. the girls were transfixed while daddy worked his "magic". sorry, i didn't get any pics of that. then we hosed the kiddos off (they were pretty filthy) and sent them off to bed an hour late before lazing on the couch ourselves. i "sorted through" the candy myself (i'm so dedicated) and then headed off to bed. the next day, i asked noe what she wanted to do when she got up, and she replied that she was "trick or treating". we weren't of course, but it was funny. then, last night, she repeated her request when i asked what she wanted to eat. when i got her shoes on her, she reiterated her suggestion. this morning, as we got ready for church, she thought we were putting on costumes to go trick or treating. when she left with daddy and saw him knock on a neighbor's door, she though HE was trick or treating and got really upset that she was being left out. she thought she was trick or treating in nursery at church. hopefully, this phase will wear off in time for christmas. now, if we could have christmas every day, i'd be okay with that.
