nap time

there is a God and he loves me! my girls, angels that they are, have decided to take at least part of their naps AT THE SAME TIME!! this is a tremendous development that i have been half scared would never happen. but, here i am, alone in the living room with absolute silence as i sip my pop (yes, people, i call it pop!) and write my blog. i'm so happy that i'm just going to spend the next while (until mali gets up, since i have no doubt she'll be awake first) with my feet propped up doing absolutely nothing. no cleaning, no laundry, no cooking...just relaxing. i haven't done that in the middle of the day in a long time.

this new trend, i've realized, requires quite a bit of planning and preparation on my part to ensure that it all goes smoothly. we start with getting lunch made for noe (while mali either sits in her swing and cries to be carried or is actually carried). during this time, mali is starting to drift off. so while noe is eating, i rock mali to sleep while attempting to also shovel food into my own mouth. half way through lunch, she's out and i carefully lay her down upstairs then hurry back to noe. noe finishes and is wiped clean then i have to carry her (i used to let her walk or run, but now i'm afraid that'll wake up the baby) into the living room to get her diaper changed. then she can sit on the couch for a moment while i make sure all the toys in the living room and kitchen that make noise are turned off and set out of the way so that i don't activate or trip over one while the girls are sleeping as that would doubtfully ruin my relaxation. then i carry noe to her room and lay her down. i make sure there are a few books by her bed in case she decides she doesn't want to sleep so that she can read to herself rather than sit and cry, which would, again, wake up the baby.

speaking of which...i hear mali waking up. so, that was about ten minutes of total silence. thanks for sharing in it with me. i have no pictures right now, but we are going to a scavenger hunt tonight, so i'll probably have some later.
